Chivas Regal and good wine

We were invited to a bar opening by one of my private students parents, they are very wealthy and have set this up to give one of the family something to do. Anyway, we were welcomed as though we were the mayor of the city and, as is the custom here, were taken to a private room. A turkey for Thanksgiving Day

I had not ever done a Thanksgiving Dinner before but here in China we teach American English and English English so all the festivals are talked about. So I decided to try a turkey and have a party and it went down pretty well.

We did not have any American representatives but had an Aussie, a Scotsman and Englishman and me from New Zealand, and of course our Chinese friends and family

The weather

Yesterday was quite warm at about 8c but it began to rain around 3.00pm and then the rain became ice and sleet and very dark. Overnight it snowed, not heavy but it is colder at around –9c and overcast – sounds like Dunedin where it is raining and no cricket at the moment, pity that as I do enjoy listening in.



Having a Thanksgiving party tomorrow night complete with turkey so should be good.



More work coming in, I am in demand here, but the money is very good for life here… Continue
